The Project
Unforeseen delays meant the new school building at Hartshill Academy, in Nuneaton, could not be occupied. Students and staff had to continue to use the former building next door for an extra two months.
Midlands Academy Trust commissioned Molloy & Co Associates to conduct a full operational risk assessment for this extended occupancy.
Services Provided
Molloy & Co provided the following:
- Operational risk assessment: We carried out a full assessment to evaluate the safety of continuing to occupy the old building, identifying potential hazards and the capacity of the structure to house students and staff safely.
- Risk identification: We worked closely with senior school staff to highlight areas of concern such as the building capacity, and health and safety. We also developed effective control measures to mitigate any risks identified.
- Emergency preparedness: Our bespoke emergency protocols ensured staff and pupils were ready for any issues arising from the extended occupancy. These included evacuation procedures, safety drills and clear communication.
The Outcome
Hartshill Academy was able to operate smoothly in its old premises for an additional two months until the new school was ready.
Staff and students both had peace of mind thanks to our work in identifying hazards, implementing control measures and preparing for emergencies.
