The Project
Molloy & Co Associates was commissioned by Hamstead Hall Academy Trust to provide a range of services relating to remedial work at the Grestone Academy in Birmingham.
The project involved the removal of hazardous asbestos and the replacement of six outdated gas boilers at the site.
Services Provided
We provided the following services:
- Funding application: We drafted a comprehensive Condition Improvement Fund application that emphasised the need to remove the asbestos and upgrade the boilers. Our application secured funding of £335,000 to cover the full cost of the project.
- Project management: We oversaw all phases of the work from planning to completion. This included coordinating with CPL Service Response, the principal contractor, suppliers and the school. We monitored timelines and budgets to ensure the work was on track and achieved its objectives.
- Contract administration: Our management of all documentation ensured everybody involved met their responsibilities – and efficient decision-making throughout the project.
- Principal designer: We focused on health and safety to protect workers and school staff.
The Outcome
Removing the asbestos under strict safety protocols delivered a school environment free from hazardous materials.
The six new gas boilers significantly improved the school’s heating system and reduced its energy consumption and bills.
Our project management ensured there was minimal disruption to the school’s activities.
