The Project
Cotswold Beacon Academy Trust invited Molloy & Co Associates to assist in the delivery of several fire safety upgrades at three of its schools in Gloucestershire:
- Berkeley Primary School
- Callowell Primary School
- Cam Woodfield Junior School
This included the installation of fire doors, emergency lighting and fire alarms.
Services Provided
We delivered the following services:
- Funding application: We applied for, and secured, money from the Condition Improvement Fund to cover the £850,000 cost of the fire safety upgrades at the three schools.
- Project management: Our work from initial consultation to final installation ensured all deadlines and project milestones were met.
- Contract administration: We worked closely with the principal contractor, AK Fire Protection, to ensure all contractual obligations were met. These included quality assurance, budget control and timely delivery. All parties were kept fully informed through project documentation and progress reporting.
- Principal designer: It was our responsibility to ensure health and safety requirements were met. We provided guidance on fire safety design and regulations to ensure the fire doors, alarms and lighting met regulatory standards and offered optimal protection for staff and pupils.
The Outcome
The safety of teachers and pupils at all three schools was significantly improved by the installation of fire safety measures.
All the upgrades – fire doors, emergency lighting, fire alarms and compartmentalisation – were fully compliant with current fire safety legislation.
Our project scheduling and coordination made sure the work was carried out with minimal impact on the daily running of the schools.
